Bakewell is a thriving market town with plenty going on, and just a stone’s throw from the rolling hills and trails of the national park. Explore the shops and cafes or why not try a famous Bakewell Pudding or visit the markets on a Monday. For those looking to soak up some local culture, historic Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall can be reached by foot or car.
The cottage is entered into via the spacious sitting room, which features an oak floor, Victorian cast iron gas coal effect fire and large sash windows. Decorated in warm tones, this room is a cosy space in which to relax after a long day of walking. Next door the kitchen and dining room has been decorated in a country farmhouse style, with decorative splash back tiles, stone flooring and a door to the patio outside.
Upstairs, two three double bedrooms share a Jack and Jill en suite bathroom. Both bedrooms have been decorated in pastel floral prints with cast iron beds to suit the period of this cottage. At the top of a further flight of stairs accessed from the master bedroom, a final bedroom is located in the eaves. This charming space is ideal for a child/teenager/ 1 adult as it its accessed via a bedroom on the floor below.
When you’re not busy exploring Bakewell, the enclosed patio area to the back of the kitchen is the perfect spot to enjoy an al fresco drink or you also have the front patio with seating to enjoy.

Entry to the cottage
Accessed from a short lane, you enter the cottage into the good sized lounge,where you can relax on the leather sofas after a day sightseeing, the lounge has an oak floor, co-ordinating Laura Ashley fabrics and a welcoming Victorian cast iron gas coal effect fire, which makes the room cosy on those cooler nights! You can look outside for lovely views over the Bakewell treetops and you can see the church.
From the back bedroom there is a lovely outlook and a few sheep if they are grazing, Lounge has 3 seater Chesterfield Sofa and two chairs - seats 5.
A door to the rear leads to a well equipped kitchen/dining room, with wooden Georgian style cottage style units and slate effect tiled floor adding to its charm - you can sit to the table to have your full english breakfast here with bacon and eggs from the local shops.
The door from the kitchen goes out onto a small enclosed private patio/barbecue area, which enjoys the afternoon and early evening sun for a friendly evening get together.
To the front of the cottage is a second flagged patio sitting out area with a picnic table which enjoys the morning and afternoon sun with excellent views of the area and surrounding farm land. To the rear is a further patio table and chairs in a small back yard area.
Services
The original stairs lead to the two bedrooms, the main bedroom to the front has a 5’ king size divan double bed, a decorative fireplace with oak floors and enjoys the views across Bakewell from the bedroom window - you should enjoy a good nights sleep on a firm 5 ft king bed with feather pillows (or hypo-allergenic if you prefer!).
We have co-ordinated the room with good old Laura Ashley fabrics for a warm and welcoming feel.
The second bedroom, to the rear, has a double bed and views across the surrounding fields. Both bedrooms share the"jack-n-jill" style bathroom with doors from both bedrooms entering the bathroom which has a Victorian style cast iron bath with electric MIRA shower over, hand basin and toilet - see pictures below!
A further flight of stairs (accessed from both bedrooms and the bathroom) leads to the second floor in the eaves of the house, with sloping ceiling with a further DOUBLE BED with memory foam mattress - this room is great for children to share - and also suitable for adults, however remember that access to the attic room is via either the master bedroom, or the back double bedroom!
